For most of my adult life I lived in two worlds.
In one world I was a general director – when implementing complex strategies, I am developing a company, coaching leaders and speaking at global stages about scaling with a smaller drama. In the second world I was someone who couldn’t solve one of the most elementary personal challenges: managing my weight.
From the Nineteen Thirties I fought with my health. I would lose a few kilos – and then recuperate them. Start your weight loss plan, give it up. Join the gym, stop going. And every time I told myself that I was too busy running a company to focus on myself.
But one day I conducted a conversation that changed every little thing. Friend – also the general director – asked me a easy query: “Why don’t you treat your health as your company?”
It hit me hard.
Because the truth is that I had knowledge and tools. Every day I train leaders on tips on how to perform and scale using agile methodologies and disciplined execution. I help firms from chaos to brightness. I know tips on how to build balanced systems and create responsibility.
What if I stop separating personal and skilled? What if I use the same disciplines I use in business for my own health?
This became the starting of my transformation.
Business implementation, personal results
In our world there is a popular saying: “Ideas are easy – the implementation is everything.”
In business, work is a place where height lives or dies. For years, I have seen firms explode or implode based on how well they follow three basic disciplines:
- Brightness of priorities and goals
- Visibility through the desktop
- Rhythm through regular briefing
When I finally got involved in health, I decided to introduce the same three rules.
1. Determine a clear and specific purpose
In business, we teach leaders that clarity beats cleverness. You cannot just say “I want to develop.” You must define How manyIN WhenAND Why does it matter. Only then does it matter.
I have told myself for years “I want to lose weight.” But this is how the general director said: “We want to increase revenues.” Unclear, protected, non-communicated.
So I changed it.
I set a clear goal: I need to lose 10 kilos in 90 days. Not only to look higher – but feel easier, higher to sleep and have energy to guide, speak, travel and serve my community.
When I made this modification, every little thing became easier. I had a direction, purpose and date. Most importantly, I had something I could undertake to.
2. Create a navigation desktop to trace progress
One of the best the reason why firms leave the course is the lack of real -time visibility. Without data, decisions are based on assumptions and feelings, not facts. That is why navigation desktops are so necessary. They are telling the truth.
So I built a personal dashboard.
It was not fancy – at the starting it was only a spreadsheet – but he followed necessary indicators: weight, trainings, meals, sleep and energy levels. I looked at what I would do at a business report.
I gained weight for a few weeks and missed some days training. But as an alternative of fighting, I reviewed the navigation desktop, how would he do it: what has changed? What works? What do I have to adapt?
The data deleted the drama. I didn’t have to feel frustrated – I needed to be strategic. This change in the way of considering helped me keep consistent and concentrated.
3. Establishment of the rhythm of meetings
Every healthy company has the rhythm of the meeting. Daily huddles, weekly check -in, monthly strategy reviews. These meetings create equalization, responsibility and momentum.
Why would not I do the same for my health?
So I did it. I added the structure to chaos. I arrange weekly checks with me. Every Sunday I reviewed my progress, identified patterns and planned the coming week. I also involved others – my wife helped plan meals and classes, and I also met with a health trainer for responsibility.
This rhythm gave my personal life the same term, which I all the time relied on professionally. It grounded me. And most significantly, it made the trial feel to master.
Results – and a real lesson
I lost weight.
What’s more, I regained my sense of control.
My energy has improved and my dream has change into more calm. I appeared with a greater presence at meetings, on stage and at home. I began to feel like I was scaled INot only my business.
This is a real lesson here: Performance is not only a business strategy – it is a life strategy.
We will often divide what we learn. We will separate our roles – a leader, partner, parent, friend – as if the tools we use in one area couldn’t bring advantages to others. But the truth is that the best business strategies are deeply human strategies. They work because they create clarity, structure and commitment – things that all of us need in every area of life.
Ultimately, this journey taught me greater than just slimming – it was about honesty.
To run others, we must first lead ourselves. To scale the company without losing your mind or health, it’s essential to level your whole yourself. This means the use of the same wisdom, discipline and care in your personal life that you just do in your corporation.
The tools are already in your hands. You must select them in all places.
Regardless of whether you are building a company or a healthier version of yourself, the path is the same: clear goals, visible progress and disciplined execution.
In this manner, you scale with a smaller drama – and greater influence.
