When Matija Šošić began working in creating web sites, he was surprised how difficult it was to build a full internet application ready for production.
One of the biggest obstacles he stood with Šošić was navigating the crushed landscape of developers tools. Coding of the internet application is required to make use of various tools to develop the front in comparison with the facilities and so on.
“The whole ecosystem is very modular and granulated,” said Techcrunch Šošić. “There are many separate subsystems that you need to come up with how to paste together, and then make sure that they are both, you know, scalable and safe with everything you configure.”
In 2020, Šošić decided to attach with his twin brother Martin Šošić – who had similar problems in his programmers’ profession – to begin WaspThe platform, which is to attach these crushed tools, in 2021.
WASP is a tool of an internet program in a full stack, which works as glue between different platforms that programmers already use, including React, Node.js and Prisma. WASP helps to compile code from these different platforms together with one internet application.
WASP also stains and flags gaps that are common when the programmer combines various sources of coding. WASP will inform the programmer if he lacks, for example, the API key or suggest potential code changes to forestall future problems.
This last song is particularly necessary on today’s market, because quite a few recent AI encoding tools, similar to Windsurf (previously Codeium) and the cursor, have made coding available to non -university people. The WASP platform is open source and can implement in a public cloud or enterprise server.
Šošić said that the founding team decided to build a wasp as a layer on existing tools, versus a completely recent, non-leather solution to eliminate programmers who have to learn a recent programming language or the means of using WASP.
WASP passed through Kohorta Winter 2021 Y Combinator and introduced its product to the beta in 2023.
The company collected an unannounced round price $ 3.7 million led by HV Capital with the participation of the fifth quarter of Ventures, Big Bets and Metis Ventures, including VC, at the end of 2024. In the round it also included Ant Wilson, co -founder and CTO Supabazy and Søren Brager Schmidt, CEO Prisma.
WASP collected a round of $ 1.5 million in 2021. Until now, the company has collected a total of $ 5.2 million.
