You don’t need enterprise backing to achieve success
Strong IPO prices for Rubrik i The warm reception by public markets following the company’s listing further highlights the prospect that public markets are not as closed to tech startups as some believed. If the Rubrik rating is not enough to chop through the confusion, well, perhaps there’s something else behind it.
But a lot more happened this week, which meant that Right as all the time, the crew had loads of messages to leaf through, with a smattering of our own. Luckily, all the pieces was pretty rattling interesting, so Mary Ann and Alex began with Rubrik and then moved on to Pomelo, a startup that has a very interesting twist on the remittance market.
Then it was time to speak about TikTok. What was once an unimaginable end result – TikTok being forced to divest from its parent company under threat of a ban – became a reality pretty darn quickly. The United States is not the first company to ban this service, but during the show we noticed that the company we maintain is not the most tempting. Yet here we are; what does this mean for consumers?
And finally, Early Stage. This yr, TechCrunch held its annual early-stage event, and it was a blast. I don’t need to intrude, but for the second yr in a row, our event in Boston was full, productive and a lot of fun. The coffee was even good. At. Alex had notes.
