“I actually fell from the chair. And Abhishek, as a great investor does, caught a chair and me when I fell,” Peffer described with laughter. This gave the look of a symbol, how the founder/investor’s relationship should work. “I think it was a clear signal that he was the right partner.”

On Tuesday, Ferrecrawl announced a series A led by Nexus with the participation of the General Director of Shopify, Tobias Lütke and the existing investor Y Combinator.

Firecrawl offers a popular dry web for programmers and AI agents, with a commercially supported version available via API. Is used by 350,000 programmers, it has almost 50,000 stars In Github and its significant clients, they are Shopify, replit and Zapier, as well as “one of the largest hedge funds in the world,” said Peffer Techcrunch. And, as he says, the company is already profitable.

The startup has just released the API interface that supports the search and will soon add support for the natural language hints, as the co -founder and Cto Nicolas Silberstein Camara noted.

Peffer, who was a co -founder of Firecrawl in 2022 with Camara and CMO Eric Ciarl, said that winning Lütke as an investor was “the best kind of validation.”

They landed through a brave e-mail after discovering that the founding father of Shopify has signed up to try his product via a self-service portal.

“We saw his e -mail appeared,” said Peffer. The Firecrawl crew immediately sent him e -Mail to welcome him as a client, but didn’t receive an answer. Two months later, some Shopify people contacted Firecrawl regarding an enterprise agreement. So Peffer shot and sent E -Mail again to Lütke, mentioning that they would really like him to participate in the upcoming round.

This time Lütke responded to compliments about his product. He was inside.

While AI web mutilates now have a somewhat dubious repute, mainly because of bad actors who ignore robot.txt files, they are also an indispensable a part of the developing world of AI. AI trains on the Internet, agents must access web sites to perform their duties, and enterprises need personalized staff to devour their very own web sites for training and operations.

The founders of Firecrawl also hope that they are going to help to deal with frustrating parts of their industry. They work on tools that help owners of internet sites, publishers and other content creators “receive remuneration when AI uses their content. We think it should be like that,” said Peffer.

While many efforts have been made about this concept from big names, such as Adobe and Getty, as well as startups such as Bria, Calliope networksAnd others, Peffer, thinks that Firecrawl has an advantage because he already works with those that condemn himself with the data.

“We already have one side of the market,” he said. “We just want to connect this market with website owners, publishers.”

Interestingly, Firecrawl also became a viral a few months ago for reasons that have little to do with the Open Source tool. They published an commercial on the YC workplace, which wants to hire an AI agent as an worker for a salary of USD 15,000 – perhaps the first job promoting for an agent worker.

The search for a job didn’t bring an agent value employing, so the firecrackers raised a budget to increase $ 1 million to employ several agents and programmers who built them and tried again. Peffer said that the candidates were flooded, but the company has not yet hired. The founders realized that the assessment and management of would -be agents is a work in itself. So now they are looking for the Chief of Staff of AI.

Peffer Firecrawl will likely be on stage in October to discuss all the things he learned during a session covering the benefits and disadvantages of employing AI agents as early employees.
