The head of Amazon Agi Labs defends his reverse Acquihire

When Amazon hired the founders of AI Startup Adept last 12 months, it was one of the first examples of what became often called the opposite Acquihire – an agreement in which a large company employs key members of the startup team and licensed its technology as a substitute of purchasing a startup.

Co -founder and former CEO ADEEP David Luan then became the head of the latest Amazon laboratory and while Recent interview with Luana Thanks to The Verge is seemingly focused on Amazon vision for AI agents, the Alex Heath reporter also asked him about Reverse trend acquihire.

Luan replied that he hopes that “he would remember more as an AI research innovator, not an innovator of the contract structure” – but from his perspective he is “perfectly rational” for corporations reminiscent of Amazon, to “now submit a critical mass of both talent and calculate.”

As for why he was ready to depart his startup for Amazon, Luan said that he was not interested in transforming the adept into a “corporate company that sells only small models” because he wanted to unravel “four key research problems left”.

“Each of them will require double-digit clusters worth a billion dollars to run them,” he said. “How else I am […] Will you have the opportunity to do this? “
