Kalshi secures $1 billion to expand forecast marketplace platform

Well, apparently anyone who has been watching this space in recent months. Two leading names – Kalshi AND Polimarket — are busily raising billions in recent pledges as they expand platforms that allow users to bet on events from the Stanley Cup to the release of the Epstein Files.

Today, Kalshi is based in New York announced raised $1 billion in Series E financing at a valuation of $11 billion. An investment company focused on cryptocurrencies Paradigm led financing, with the participation of, among others, Capital of Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Meritech Capital Partners, IVP, ARKA investment, The capital of Anthos, CapitalG AND Y Combinator.

Notably, Kalshi’s latest raise comes just a month after its previous round and includes $300 million in financing following a reported $5 billion valuation. In hindsight, the rapid upward run seemed predictable.

This is because Kalshi’s most important rival, Polymarket, has embarked on an much more capital-intensive path. Just last month, New York-based Polymarket secured stock and futures giant with up to $2 billion in strategic investments Intercontinental Exchangethe company’s parent company New York Stock Exchange. As a part of the deal, the startup’s pre-money valuation was $8 billion.

Kalshi calls itself the largest forecasting marketplace in the world. According to the funding announcement, it has seen explosive growth, with trading volume now exceeding $1 billion per week, an increase of over 1,000% from 2024.

To date, the 7-year-old company has raised $1.6 billion in high-profile funding, according to Crunchbase data. At the starting of his activity, he was a participant of the Y Combinator 2019 winter startup group.
