Lauren Sánchez opened up in a recent interview about how she and her fiancé Jeff Bezos approach philanthropy — and said one thing “people don’t really know” about Bezos is that he built an eight-story, 63,000-square-foot homeless shelter inside an Amazon office building in Seattle.
Hollywood Reporter published a conversation between Sánchez and Eva Longoria on Tuesday. Longoria asked Sánchez about her and Bezos’ approach to philanthropy, with Sánchez stating that “Jeff is incredibly focused, as you can imagine.”
“We’re really looking for organizations that not only address urgent issues but also have a clear, effective plan to make a difference,” Sánchez said.
Longoria and Sánchez have been friends for 20 years, and in March, Longoria won the $50 million Bezos Courage and Civility Award.
Sanchez emphasized 10 billion dollars Bezos Earth Fund, which focuses on climate innovation, restoring nature and climate justice. She also noted Amazon’s partnership with Mary’s Place, an organization that helps support homeless families.
“One of the things Jeff did with Mary’s Place was put a homeless shelter in the Amazon offices in Seattle, which is amazing,” Sánchez said. “I know. It’s crazy that people don’t really know much about it.”
Amazon staff simply need to return right down to donate their time at the shelter, Sánchez added.

The shelter has separate entrances and no access to Amazon offices.
Amazon reported that in 2020 the centre provided temporary housing to greater than 85 families.
Bezos posted about the shelter on social mediaFor example, in April 2021, he posted a video of himself and Sánchez giving Washington Gov. Jay Inslee a tour of the facility.
