Day Zero Games: Solarpunk Jam announces the winners of Game Jam

Trevor Noah Zero Productions and Anima Interactive day were announced by the winners of their games, Day zero Games: Solarpunk Jam.

Of almost 200 participants from 35 countries, Solar Salvage, a vehicle building and exploration created by only three programmers: Nattland Interactive in Sweden and 707 Heaven in Norway, received the essential prize of USD 10,000.

Additional finalists are: Banyu, a cozy sailing game and sweeping developed by HotFix Labs, a team from Indonesia; Sky Patch, a quiet agricultural platformer and adventure, in which players must revive the quiet, floating islands, developed by Null Jam Games, an international team.

The winning matches shall be presented during the Green Games Showcase at Summer Games Fest, broadcast on June 7 at 13:00 Pacific time, distinguishing the next generation of creators aware of the climate.

“You can feel the desire for honest, optimistic games in Solarpunk Jam applications,” said Dan Zubrzycki, head of games at day zero products. “Teams from Indonesia, South Africa, Norway, Colombia and not only treated this topic not only as aesthetics, but as an invitation to involve the climate crisis with hope and ingenuity.

Day Zero Games: Solarpunk Jam began on Earth Day, April 22, 2025, and passed by May 10, 2025, demanding programmers to create original prototypes of video games inspired by Solarpunk – the growing literary and visual movement, which provides for radical optimism, environmental management and social capital.

“Solarpunk is still quite a born movement, and this jam from the game has helped accelerate movement, showing how video games can revive their ideals,” said Karla Reyes, the founder and creative director in Anima Interactive in a statement. “Games are an extremely fertile basis for examining the complexity of climate justice, the resistance of the community and the brighter future – through narrative, systems, aesthetics and active participation of the player. It’s amazing to see what the participants achieved in just a few weeks, and we hope that this initiative can inspire more interested artists and building the world of solarpunks.”

Jam was sponsored by Cinerreach, stories for recognized movies, akin to Marcel The Shell with the shoes and the beast of Southern Wild and Carmack Collective, a support fund catalyzing a transformational change in the pursuit of climate justice.

Before playing Dżem, the participants received a narrative plan developed by Cinereach in cooperation with Good Energy, providing climate research tools and stories stories designed with the contribution of scientists and first -line community.

Thanks to global participation, intercultural cooperation and powerful history, the results of Day Zero Games: Solarpunk Jam show a growing appetite for stories that undermine dystopia with beauty, joy and ecological imagination.
