Once known primarily as a provider of Internet domains, GoDaddy has evolved into a software company that helps entrepreneurs improve every aspect of their business, from branding and marketing to e-commerce. The company’s mission of elevating small businesses includes helping entrepreneurs improve digital marketing efforts so that they will focus on their passions.
According to Amy Jennette, integrated marketing and product marketing leader at GoDaddy, digital marketing is one of the top challenges business owners face. That’s why GoDaddy includes SEO (search engine marketing), social media marketing and creating content inside it digital marketing guide.
“Marketing is something [entrepreneurs] they know they should do it, but it’s very foreign to where their craft is,” Jennette says. “Not only are we providing them with the tools to help them build their brand, promote their brand and drive customer conversions, but we also want to make sure we’re helping to educate small businesses on the steps they need to take to be successful.”
Though business branding Jennette revealed that many business owners fall into the trap of considering about a logo and brand colours when they ought to be starting with elements that are closer to the company’s identity.
“What is their voice? What is their style? What is their purpose in getting into business? What are their values? What are they trying to convey?” he says. “It comes down to: What is the promise that we are making as a small business to the customers that we serve?”
Jennette also stressed the importance of authenticity. “If it’s not authentic to you, it’s going to be hard to administer because you’re going to have to maintain turning[to] “That headspace to get into that voice,” he says. (*3*)
Once you’ve established your brand voice, it’s time to think about visuals. GoDaddy makes it easier and more cost-effective than ever.
“We have a tool for [logo creation]. Just fill in a few details about your business and who you want to be, and we’ll create a beautiful, multi-color, multi-dimensional logo for you to use,” says Jennette.
GoDaddy’s tools are a direct result of research into business owner challenges, budget concerns, and educational needs. They also developed free artificial intelligence (AI) Hint library to help with content creation, response review, and more to improve results on generative AI platforms like ChatGPT.
Using artificial intelligence to support review response strategy can prevent time and effort, help steer the conversation, and generate responses that align with your brand voice and customer support standards.
“You can use customer testimonials and reviews to do a lot of the hard work for you,” says Jennette. “And most importantly, you want to be consistent in how you do it.”
GoDaddy’s suggestions for small business marketing success include:
- Clearly define your brand. Before you dive into marketing strategies, define your brand’s voice, style, and values. This foundation will guide all of your marketing efforts and provide help to stay consistent across channels.
- Know your audience. Identify and understand your goal group. This knowledge will determine where to focus your marketing efforts and which platforms will provide the best engagement. As Jennette advises, “Go and be active where your audience is.”
- Use the tools available to you. Use tools to streamline and improve your marketing efforts. From search engine marketing to social media management, using the right technology can provide help to maintain an influential online presence without going over budget or overwhelming your team.
