Miris got here out of hiding today to disclose its technology that can bring spatial computing to streaming. The company also announced that it has raised $26 million in a seed funding round, with IAG Capital Partners leading the round. The company plans to explore applications for its technology in a variety of businesses, including entertainment and healthcare.
According to the founders, Miris’ technology solves the spatial computing problem by enabling real-time streaming of spatial content without downloading. The company has patented the technology, which enables a content delivery network for spatial content. In other words, consumers could access spatial content in the same way they access music, shows, or movies, without the need for storage.
Marlin Prager, CEO of Miris, said in a statement: “The world’s largest technology and entertainment companies are spending billions to develop the spatial computing market. Miris delivers the only complete solution that unlocks the spatial content delivery bottleneck and enables streaming spatial content to consumers without sacrificing quality or experience.”
Joel Whitley, partner at IAG Capital Partners, added: “We believe spatial computing will not see widespread adoption until we can deliver high-fidelity, interactive spatial content to consumers for easy consumption – via streaming. Miris and his team have solved this key problem with an elegant solution for delivering spatial content at scale. This will enable the ‘transition’ of both spatial content and devices that the market has been waiting for. Miris is the key to unlocking spatial computing.”
