TechCrunch confirmed that Sequoia closes its Washington, DC, office and partly with the political team.
The message appears – and is to some extent – with other outstanding VC corporations in the Silicon Valley strengthen their ties with Capitol Hill and the latest Trump administration. For example, Andreessen Horowitz bends in his political team when several of his partners NAK in the White House. Recently, for example, he hired a former Republican Congressman Patrick Mchenry as an adviser.
Sequoia opened an office in Washington five years ago to support corporations with regulatory problems and deepen relations with decision -makers. In a statement for TechCrunch, a sequoia spokesman said that because of “strategic tips and efforts” of the political team regarding the strengthening of the relationship and knowledge “Sequoia is now well prepared to conduct these relationships in the US and Europe.”
“For this purpose, we settle ourselves on a dedicated function of politics and closing our DC office at the end of March. We are grateful to the team for their contribution and influence,” said the spokesman.
Changes affect people of politics in the company, in addition to three full -time employees, as sources say Fortune, which was the first to report this message.
Although Sequoia is normally politically neutral, her partners had previously expressed political views. In particular, Shaun Maguire, a partner in the company, is a sincere supporter of President Trump and apparently helps candidates for the Doge screen.
