Slows Starbucks: eliminate 1,100 corporate jobs, open roles

In January, the president of Starbucks and general director Brian Niccol told employees that corporate dismissals are on the horizon.

Now the horizon is here. Niccol told the employees In the latest note on Monday that 1100 corporate jobs will likely be eliminated the next day, noting that his team “assesses the role, structure and size of our global support teams to help us implement the plan” Return to Starbucks “and positioning the company for future success.”

“The management team has completed this work, and this week we convey the changes we are introducing,” Niccol wrote. “This includes a difficult decision to eliminate 1,100 current roles of support partners and several hundred additional open and unpaid positions.”
