Being a startup entrepreneur in the game sector, you’ll undoubtedly experience each ups and downs.
Rising production costs, technological interference, similar to AI and other aspects, play a role and contribute to challenges; Despite this, the games were a relatively everlasting good plant for entrepreneurship since the time of Nintendo and Atari.
Recently, the global game industry recorded a huge increase during Pandemia, and revenues increased from $ 131 billion in 2017-2021, According to to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Since then, two -digit growth rates in the industry have somewhat slowed down, based on consultancy, but in general the market is continuously growing and expected to achieve $ 266 billion by 2028.
I talked to two game entrepreneurs – who each work in the tangible space of gaming accessories – about the establishment of their company, significant milestones in their journey and challenges, which is facing the space of game entrepreneurship.
Chris Sturmberg courage AND Roman Jakob (Presented photo of the article) are co -founders of Nerdytech, a company focusing on improving comfort for players and computer users due to ergonomic products that improve the engaging impressions of games.
The following interview was edited for clarity and conciseness:
Chris Mut: I’m a passionate player and I’m a fan of the world of games since I used to be a child. I took my first computer, 286 computers and the first game console, Atari 2600, when I used to be only 12 years old. I wanted to know how they work and whether I can rebuild and improve them.
Roman Jakob: Since I used to be a child, I played video games and it was my passion all my life. I began with Nintendo NES and around 1996 I dived in an amazing world of computer games, which is ultimately one of the common fascination with Chris and Mine.
Chris Mut: Nerdytec was founded in 2011 and began as a small project in my garage. At that point, my friend Roman and I continuously tinted at the game configuration to build the final game room. Our vision was to enhance the impression of games by increasing the sense of immersion and improving comfort.
Chris Mut: One of our important projects was making the peripheral devices of the peripheral games more convenient when sitting on the couch or bed, which led to the creation of the first version of the couchmaster.
Roman: We love the couchmaster for the sense of immersion it provides, due to his ergonomic design and spacious arrangement. We are all the time working on the evolution of games from games, and our passion is continuously growing with each recent edition.
Chris Mut: There have been many challenges since the foundation of Nerdytec, including the alternative of the right name. But because we define ourselves as computer -known nerds who love technology, finally Nerdytec made sense.
Another necessary challenge was to satisfy the high standards set by our CTO, Roman, especially when we decided to develop on a high -class keyboard. We had a lot of discussions about the basic functions and we finally decided to make use of the latest goal switches, although it delayed the final production and release. Ultimately, the trading press, including Forbes, confirmed our alternative and praised our Cykey keyboard, so every thing succeeded.
Roman Jakob: The couchmaster began as a easy picket board with two pillows and since then it has evolved into technologically advanced, illuminated desk with a port and power supply for various devices, including keyboards, headphones, game pads, tablets and telephones. It also occurs in various sizes to match differing types of body, and offers space for gaming tools, drinks and many others. Today it is a versatile, typical solution for convenient games on board.
Chris Mut: The first first was the establishment of a CouchMaster family with all its siblings, developed for laptop users, users of game and keyboard and mouse enthusiasts. Securing our own patent after many years of waiting was for all of us one other important milestone in Nerdytec. And when we finally managed to develop players and computer applications around the world, we felt a great sense of success. Today we are able to proudly say that we are providing the whole world with our solutions; From the USA to the rest of the world.
Chris Mut: One of the most moving customer experiences took place at the fair where we presented our first CouchMaster product.
At some point in the day, a friendly player approached our wheelchair stand and told us with tears in his eyes, how joyful he was that somebody finally developed a product that might free him from a painful desk. I felt very moved by this personal account and broke my tears of joy. Everyone around us began to clap. It was a really extraordinary moment when I spotted how much this product may also help our customers.
Roman Jakob: Our passion for games allows us to develop products that we prefer to use ourselves. As a result, user -friendly products adapted to players like us, and our customers immediately notice the difference. Our mission is also to keep up direct contact with fans and for years we have implemented a lot of their ideas and feedback in our projects. The proximity of customers has all the time been very necessary to us.
Chris Mut: Our goal is to develop into a trusted and beloved brand that supports players and home office users around the world with higher comfort and utility. We wish to find a way to supply a full range of peripheral devices and ergonomic solutions that help people keep a good attitude and feel comfortable while playing or working on a computer or console.
