TechCrunch learned that in Hyundai Electric Air Taxi Supernal at Hyundai’s Electric Air Bettup Supernal just a few weeks after stopping work on the program of vehicles and general director and CTO left.
The supernal strategy director, Jaeyong Song and security director, Tracy Lamb, are now not in the company, the startup confirmed on Friday. Lina Yang, Chief of Staff of the recently deceased General Director, Jaiwon Shin. (Yang previously served as the “head of intelligent systems” Supernal until April 2025)
“By going to new leadership, we took the opportunity to strategically view the progress of our program and subsequent steps to ensure adaptation to our long -term goals,” said Startup in a statement for TechCrunch.
Supernal said that the owner of Hyundai Motor Group “remains definitely involved in his AAM [advanced air mobility] business.”
The departure of the song is particularly noteworthy, considering that he spent three years acting as the vp of the AAM Hyundai group, before he took over the role of the director of the strategy in Supernal in 2023 (meanwhile Supernal was thrown out of AAM in 2021) the song was employed by a larger group of Hyundai-Kia. The song didn’t immediately answer at the request for comment. Lamb refused to comment.
It was a difficult 12 months for Supernal. This startup ended 2024, suddenly ending its recent headquarters in Washington, as Techcrunch previously reported. While Supernal finally made his first test flight in March, it Released dozens employees just a few months later. At the starting of September, the startup began the executive shock and stopped the Taxi Air program.
This happens at a key moment of the emerging electric start and landing industry. Some players secure investments and recent partnerships against planned business premieres (and all this, while the regulatory program is becoming favorable in the US), while others are coming out of their business.
